Sabrina Marques
Sabrina Marques' paintings playfully explore magical realism and color. As a daughter of a Cuban exile and Portuguese orphan, she grew up hearing stories of fortune and loss. At a young age, Marques became aware of humor's ability to provide solace in the face of hardship. Her paintings are inspired by the oral tradition of her family; they collage remembered and invented experiences and serve to unify ancestral history with her present life.
Marques is a graduate of Columbia University and the Yale School of Art. She lives and works in Connecticut.
